Janie Tinklenberg, Minister for Students/Families/Outreach
Janie Tinklenberg has been a part of the pastoral staff at Peace since May, 1998, leading our ministry to students and families. In recent years, Janie is responsible for enabling our ministries that serve our local needs as well as support statewide and national ministries through hands-on serving.
Janie has spent a lifetime in ministry. With credentials as an Associate in Ministry in the RCA, she has spent the past 13 years here at Peace. She holds a MA in Theology and Clinical Psychology (MFC), and is a Certified Professional Coach. It is a background that makes her available to individuals and families as they navigate transitions, relationships, and/or a desire for personal or spiritual growth.
Janie’s passion for students is obvious. If asked what she loves about her job she will first tell you that she loves knowing and listening to students. Then you will hear her talk about her experience with seeing people’s lives transformed through their connection to God’s love and grace and how the Holy Spirit is active and moving through people when they serve others.
When we asked her who or what inspired her, Janie did not hesitate:
I am inspired by people who are willing to move outside the box, dream big, and move forward without knowing exactly where it will lead. I am inspired by people who are willing to do the hard work of recovery and face their demons. I am inspired by students and leaders who go on mission trips and give their time and their heart for the sake of others. I am deeply moved by students who are authentically seeking a relationship with Jesus.
In her spare time, Janie loves the beach at Anna Maria, Florida, and finds her way down there with her husband Glen a couple of times each year. After years of sitting in the bleachers watching any one of her 7 children participate in athletics, Janie and Glen now watch lots of Dublin Coffman basketball where their son Mark is a coach.
Mostly, Janie loves when her kids come home from all parts of the country- California, Phoenix, or Chicago- or her daughter from Mexico or her son who is active in the military, serving in the Middle East. There’s nothing better than cooking and being together around the table!
