GRIN (Gahanna Residents In Need)GRIN (Gahanna Residents in Need), located at 165 Granville Street, is a community-wide, faith-based organization committed to alleviating hunger for Gahanna-Jefferson School district and 43230 zip code residents. GRIN provides short term food and financial assistance throughout the year including a food pantry, summer lunch program and assistance with utility/rent payments.
Peace is actively involved with GRIN in its mission to serve our immediate neighborhood. In 2022 we helped to stock the shelves of the food pantry with a "bag drop". In partnership with Thrivent Insurance, we dropped empty grocery bags on identified doorsteps of neighborhood homes and picked up the donated, filled bags the following week, allowing members of the community to share their resources with people in need. We prepared and served over 700 lunches in one week in the summer to Gahanna-Jefferson families with food insecurity. We shared our space to allow GRIN to distribute boxes of Thanksgiving meals. We partnered with GRIN to provide weekend meal supplements to students throughout the school year. Peace adopted two elementary schools providing breakfast, lunch and dinner to over 50 children each week to carry them through the weekend. GRIN is also supported through Peace's monthly donation to be used for financial aid to clients. We respond when GRIN calls. There are hungry people in our community. They do not look any different than you or me, they do not behave any differently, but they are in need. Participate in any of our partnerships with GRIN and help alleviate hunger. Watch for requests for volunteers or donations. Or simply contact GRIN directly. For more information contact Minda Bickley. |
