The Hardy Center is located on the near Eastside of Columbus. It is an organization that serves young people with the mission "to provide inner-city children with the elements they need to become more viable within this society". Their goal is to provide a safe, nurturing environment - free from bullying and intimidation. Their programs not only provide school based instruction, but also a place to be exposed to things that may not normally be available to them, such as a computer instruction, life skills, nutritional education, chess club, fencing, lego learning, martial arts, performing arts, unicycle instruction, homework help, tutoring, and hot healthy meals every day of operation all at no cost. Their goal is for the children to leave our program better prepared to excel in school and in life.
The Hardy Center is under the direction of Stephen Garland. Steve's passion to instill a love of learning and to guide children to see possibilities is infectious. Peace is privileged to walk alongside him and the children at the Hardy Center.
If you are interested in join our Peace teams that help with meals and tutoring, please contact Chris Broas or Minda Bickley for more information.
