Woman's Monday Morning (and Evening) Bible Study
Every Monday | 9:30am - 11:30am OR 6:30pm - 8:30pm | Fireside Lounge
Women’s Bible Study meets on Monday mornings from 9:30am to 11:30am and again in the evening from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in the Fireside Lounge. This group meets September through May. All women are welcome to join for Bible Study, prayer, and fellowship.
Numbers: Learning Contentment in a Culture of More by Melissa Spoelstra.
About the study:Something in us aches for more—more hope, more joy, more freedom. All around us people are dancing to the steps of bigger, better, and faster, and we can easily join in without even realizing it. Before long complaining and comparing accompany our desire for more, yet we’re not any closer to filling the ache inside. God offers us another way.
In this six-week study of the Book of Numbers, we’ll find a group of people that wandered in the desert for forty years, unable to enter the Promised Land because of their complaining, grumbling, and lack of faith. By exploring Numbers we can come to identify the reasons for our complaining, learn contentment while being authentic about the difficulties of life, accept short-term hardship in light of the greater good of God’s ultimate deliverance, recognize the relationship between complaining and worry, and discover how to realign with God’s character and promises.
If you are interested in joining us, or have any questions, please contact Lori Nelson at [email protected] or Denise Harris at [email protected]

Peace Book Club
2nd & 4th Thursday of the month
Begins Thursday, September 26th
The PFJ Peace Book Club is reconvening September 26th at 7:00pm, reading Beyond a Binary God: A Theology For Trans Allies, by Tara Soughers, which can be found on Amazon and most other book retailers.
As described on Amazon, "All are made in the image and likeness of God. If this is what we believe, then trans people, like all people, reflect something of God, and not just in the ways that they share in common with others, but also in the ways that they are different. They remind us that God is beyond all of our categories, even gender. In this book, Tara Soughers explores theology from the position of a trans ally, a parent of a trans young adult as well as priest. What does it mean about God and about humans, that there is not a strict gender binary? How can we affirm and include what we have learned about the permeability of boundaries to affirm those whose path does not follow traditional cultural stereotypes? What gifts does this broader understanding bring to the church?"
As a Reconciling in Christ church, we believe it is helpful to learn more about being an affirming ally of the LGBTQ+ community. The Peace Book Club meets the second and fourth Thursdays of each month via Zoom. If you'd like to participate or have any questions, please contact Lynn Cory at [email protected].
