Woman's Monday Morning (and Evening) Bible Study
Every Monday | 9:30am - 11:30am (Fireside Lounge) OR 6:30pm - 8:30pm (Library)
Beginning Monday, January 13th
The morning group will be studying: Amos: An Invitation to the Good Life by Jennifer Rothschild
Amos is often called a prophet of doom. And when you begin to read his prophecy, it doesn’t take long to realize that nickname fits. On the surface, his prophecy doesn’t sound like a happy formula for the good life. However, every condemnation he gives serves as an invitation, a cry for us to “seek God and live” (Amos 5:4). You’ll be invited to live assured, faithful, chosen, humble, justly, prayerful, and hopeful. This kind of living will bring us and others around us peace and true prosperity. Amos is promoting the God life, and, the God life is the good life!
The evening group will be studying: The Armor of God by Priscilla Shirer
All day, every day, an invisible war rages around you — unseen, unheard, yet felt throughout every aspect of your life. A devoted, devilish enemy seeks to wreak havoc on everything that matters to you: your heart, your mind, your marriage, your children, your relationships, your resilience, your dreams, your destiny. But his battle plan depends on catching you unaware and unarmed. If you're tired of being pushed around and caught with your guard down, this study is for you. The enemy always fails miserably when he meets a woman dressed for the occasion. The Armor of God, more than merely a biblical description of the believer's inventory, is an action plan for putting it on and developing a personalized strategy to secure victory.
We welcome you to join us in the new year! For more information, or for questions, please contact Lori Nelson at [email protected].

Peace Book Club
2nd & 4th Thursday of the month
The PFJ Peace Book Club will begin its next book on January 26, 2025 at 7:00 p.m., reading Torn: Rescuing the Gospel from the Gays-vs.-Christians Debate, by Justin Lee, which can be found on Amazon and most other book retailers. As described by the author, “These last few decades of debate about sexuality have ripped open wounds in our hearts – and in the reputation of Christianity – that have yet to heal…[M]any Christians I know are struggling to find their footing. What does it look like to love our neighbors and our siblings in Christ, even if we think they’ve gotten things wrong? How do we maintain relationships with family and friends in the midst of such strong disagreements? And how can we apply the lessons we’ve learned in the sexuality debate to new and different issues that may arise?” Please join us as we continue to learn more about being an affirming ally of the LGBTQ+ community.
As a Reconciling in Christ church, we believe it is helpful to learn more about being an affirming ally of the LGBTQ+ community. The Peace Book Club meets the second and fourth Thursdays of each month via Zoom. If you'd like to participate or have any questions, please contact Lynn Cory at [email protected].
